Tips for Reverts
Welcome to Help for Reverts! We congratulate you on taking the step to become a Muslim and we pray the Almighty Allah will support and bless you continuously, Ameen.
We hope we are able to serve you well during the challenging times of becoming a new Muslim.
To help you get the most out our platform, we’ve listed some points that are worth noting:
Help for Reverts are here to help! Our aim is to provide emotional and educational support to new Muslims. Having being involved in spreading Islam for many years, we’ve recognised the challenges faced by reverts. We hope to be able to provide local and accessible support that is catered for your needs.
Please show your appreciation to our kind volunteers – a simple thank you goes a long way. It’s even better if you can make a supplication for our volunteers that are looking to help others in need of assistance.
Don’t feel obliged to sharing personal information – you don’t need to share information with volunteers which you don’t wish to.
With that in mind, if you’re meeting a volunteer locally, try to meet in a public place.Try not to get too despondent when things aren’t quite going right – we believe everyone will be tested with trials and difficulties in life. As the glorious Qur’an says,
“Do the people think that they will be left to say, “We believe” and they will not be tried?”. (Qur’an, 29:2) Reminding yourself of this verse of His book will certainly help.Get in touch with us if you’re still struggling, or feel the need to verify information – we’re here to help.
Try not to do too much at once – this is a general piece of advice for any newly practicing Muslim as well as reverts.
If you do too much, you may burnout and give up altogether. We advise to try and perform the daily prayers, and always ask for Allah’s assistance. Bearing this in mind will help you to avoid frustration when you’re not making the progress you’d like.Allah is the best of helpers – it’s great to have human support from your fellow brother or sister but none can support like the Almighty. We should always turn to Allah for our needs in this world, and the next.
